Sponsor a Paw Pad rescue cat from just $5 a week

25/12/2020

Hi, instead of the 'usual Christmas gifts' like chocolate and bottles of wine for people who have everything already, I decided to sponsor two cats at Paw Pad Rescue in Stanmore Bay instead. For as little as $5 per week you can select one of the cats on the photos and set up an automatic weekly payment to help with food and other costs.

Gutter Kitties is an Incorporated Charitable Trust. Founder and Chair Danielle Howard started rescue work in 2006, and Gutter Kitties was finally established as a Trust at the beginning of 2012.
They maintain high standards of animal welfare, professionalism and integrity, and work with other rescue centres and entities as required to achieve their purpose. They also strive to educate the public, and promote responsible pet ownership. The communal shelter The Paw Pad is located in Stanmore Bay, and this is where unsocialised street cats first go upon coming into their care.  Here they are tamed by a wonderful group of volunteers, and then move into foster homes to prepare them for finding their own human family.

SPONSORSHIP NEEDED
With an average of 35-40 residents at any one time, the expenses are huge. Please consider sponsoring one of the lovely Paw Pad rescues from just $5 per week. Please go to the website and find a cat that you would like to sponsor on a regular basis.
https://www.gutterkitties.co.nz/thepawpad
If you scroll down that page you can see the photos of all current 'residents' and pick one.

FOSTER HOMES NEEDED

Once the rescues are socialised, they then move into a foster home to integrate them in a family environment and prepare them for adoption.  Fostering one of the Paw Pad rescues is hugely rewarding.
Please email tracey@gutterkitties.co.nz if you are interested in providing a temporary (or permanent) home to one or more of these gorgeous babies.
A no-kill shelter is defined as "a shelter that does not kill healthy or treatable animals". It does not matter if an animal is old, unsocialised, blind, deaf, traumatized or has a treatable illness. All of these animals are worthy of our compassion, all of them can find homes, and all of them deserve to."

New Fabrics - new Products

As the demand grew for more neutral colour schemes I added new designs to the bolster range in natural, grey, silver and gold tones of Linen and Cotton fabrics.
New Mandala greeting cards and the popular little fabric hearts are back...
It was great to see many Yoga studios offering online classes during Lockdown Level 4. I hope, they will keep going in the future, as some people enjoy practicing at home. Would also be great to be able downloading the classes to watch and practice at any convenient time.
Stay healthy and well.
Love,
Beate

14 Good Things about the Lockdown

27/4/2020

For a lot of people ‘Lockdown’ is a difficult and very lonely time. But there are also many positive things about staying at home.
  1. We still can go for a walk and discover our neighbourhood and talk to our neighbours (at social distance)
  2. Re-discover our creativity and learning new skills, like languages, instruments, sewing, art techniques, crafts, games, software, studies, gardening, cooking, and make funny videos.
  3. Spending quality time with our children (they are the future!)
  4. Finally get to finish these un-finished projects, renovations, clearing, cleaning, de-cluttering and re-organising our homes, gardens, garages and sheds
  5. Learning to slow down and relax and reflect on what is important in life, changing careers, have new dreams and goals and make new plans to achieve them
  6. Get into a new fit and healthy lifestyle with Yoga, Meditation, a new fitness regime, walking, biking, and healthy food. Start to implement it in your daily routine.
  7. Discover online-shopping and selling as consumer and as a business owner. Maybe it’s time to upgrade and launch your small business online. Lots of gyms and Yoga studios started online classes. I hope they will go on with it.
  8. We learned to respect our essential workers, still being there for us to get us going.
  9. improve our social lives in cyberspace with the help of Zoom and other programs or taking time to write letters, emails or call friends and family.
  10. Make time for yourself by like reading books, listening to music, watching Movies or be entertained by Youtube.
  11. Amazing how creative and inventive people are, coming up with their own sports equipment and new ways to celebrate and gather online.
  12. Working from home opens new ideas, practices and possibilities for the future.
  13. Being generous, looking after each other, going the extra mile, food and money donations, volunteering to help.
  14. We can be proud to be New Zealanders, doing the ‘right thing’ and saving lives.

I really hope, that some of the positive things will stay with us and maybe change us and our environment to the better even after COVID 19.
Rikobert, my little helper...

Even the rain couldn’t prevent us from enjoying our time at Kawai Purapura last weekend. We set up our stand on Thursday and since then we got a lot of positive comments on our inspirational decor. Over the weekend we showed and explained our latest Yoga and Meditation products, had great conversations, learned a few things about life in general and met a lot of wonderful like-minded people. We really enjoyed the peaceful setting of the retreat in Albany and we had a quiet moment under the huge peace tree to reflect. And just on time for the closing ceremony the sun came back.

MANA - Yoga & Meditation Retreat

It was the perfect 'get away' from our busy lives. Last weekend my sister and I had a very peaceful and quite time at MANA Retreat Center on Coromandel. Self-care and restoration was the focus for three days, organised by Caroline from YummyYoga and her magic helpers Machel and Nicki. After driving along along the beautiful coast from Thames to MANA, we enjoyed lots of Yoga, Meditation, a bush walk, the amazing sanctuary on the hill, vegetarian food and wonderful, like-minded people.
It was the well needed relaxation before setting up my stand at the International Yoga Festival at Kawai Purapura in Albany tomorrow.
Thank you to Caroline, Machel and Nicki to help create a ‘very special memory’.

These newly created fabric buntings are now available in my online store. Since I made similar buntings to decorate my stall at the International Yoga Festival and other shows, markets  and events, people asked me if they were for sale. Now they are! Each listed bunting includes eight calico flags with different motifs and seven bead&shell tassels. They have a total length of approx. 3.00m and they are all hand-made in my home studio here in New Zealand.

    Beate Minderjahn

When I started taking Yoga classes, I wanted to buy my own bolster and eye pillow, but it was difficult to find items, that I really liked. So I decided to create my own  and turn it into a business.  I wanted my products to be beautiful, natural and practical.
